Traffic Advisory: Charlotte Street/Princess Street Intersection Closure

The City of Saint John would like to advise motorists of the following traffic interruption:

Street: Charlotte Street / Princess Street intersection
Date: August 19, 2026
Duration: One (1) day

Time: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Direction: In both directions
Action: Intersection closed to all traffic during this time period
Specific area: Charlotte Street from King Square South to Princess Street, Princess Street from Sydney Street to Charlotte Street, and Princess Street from Germain Street to Charlotte Street closed to through traffic.

The following sections of streets will be affected:

  • Charlotte Street (King Square South to Princess Street) - closed to through traffic but local access to off-street parking will be available via King Square South intersection. Temporary two-way traffic will be signed on this section of Charlotte Street.
  • Princess Street (Charlotte Street to Sydney Street) - closed to through traffic but local access to off-street parking will be available via Sydney Street intersection. Regular alternate side parking will remain.
  • Princess Street (Germain Street to Charlotte Street) - closed to though traffic but local access to off-street parking will be available via the Germain Street intersection. Parking on the north side of Princess Street will be temporarily restricted to allow for two-way traffic on this section of Princess Street. Two-way traffic will be signed on this section of Princess Street.

Description of work: Installation of new underground infrastructure in the Princess Street/Charlotte Street intersection.
More Details: Local access to properties will be available. On street parking will be restricted.
