KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA - OCTOBER 15, 2026 - Speedcast, a global communications and IT services provider and the world's largest Starlink Authorized Reseller, today announced an agreement for a multi-year, all-LEO network deployment for a leading offshore oil and gas producer in the Asia-Pacific region.
As an integrated energy producer, the customer requires robust, next-generation connectivity and network management across its upstream and downstream operations. Its offshore operations comprise drilling rigs, production platforms, FPSOs and accommodation vessels, workboats and barges, while onshore operations span gas plants, supply bases and refineries.
The contract scope includes a three-stage process, with initial deployment of standalone Starlink services for platforms, vessels and fast crew boats, followed by a combined solution of Starlink with Speedcast SIGMA-managed services for drilling rigs, providing WiFi and voice connectivity. The third stage covers deployment of fully managed Starlink services with SIGMA for offshore and onshore facilities, depending on business needs.
Overall, the agreement will see the customer consolidate its communications exclusively to Speedcast and move connectivity to Starlink to allow the company to best serve its nationwide requirements across all offshore and onshore operations.
Speedcast's SIGMA solution brings unique benefits to the delivered Starlink service, enabling separation of crew welfare internet access from prioritized corporate business traffic, with content filtering. The managed network also provides Voice Over IP access and secure cloud connectivity.
"By moving to a managed, all-LEO solution, this leading energy operator is transforming its ability to communicate between its fixed and floating assets and meet the needs of the business and staff with reliable, high-speed, low-latency services," said James Trevelyan, EVP, Global Sales at Speedcast. "Further to this, by transitioning connectivity requirements solely to Speedcast, the customer will experience seamless global network coverage via a single service provider. We look forward to partnering with the customer to enhance their operations both onshore and offshore," concluded Trevelyan.
Beyond the current project, there is potential for future service expansion to other parts of Asia, South America and North America.
Speedcast is independently positioned as the world's leading integrator of LEO technologies. The company is recognized as Starlink's largest Enterprise account in terms of airtime spend, active sites, and local accounts in over 40 countries.
