Cornwall Resident Charged with Aggravated Domestic Assault

The Attorney General's Office today announced that Kevin Tower, 29, of Cornwall, Vermont, was arraigned on two felony counts of first-degree aggravated domestic assault and one count of misdemeanor domestic assault. The charges brought against Mr. Tower are the result of an investigation conducted by the Vermont State Police with the assistance of the Middlebury Police Department.

Mr. Tower pleaded not guilty at an arraignment today in Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Bennington Unit. The Court, Judge John Valente presiding, ordered Mr. Tower held without bail for up to 60 days pending a weight of evidence hearing. The Court also ordered Mr. Tower to obey conditions of release including that he not contact the alleged victim or witnesses, that he not possess any firearms or dangerous weapons, and that he stay 300 feet away from both the victim and the crime scene.

The Attorney General's Office emphasizes that individuals charged with a crime are legally presumed innocent until their guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
