CBN Rajasthan Unit seizes nearly four tonnes of contrabands in intensified enforcement operations across Rajasthan

In a series of significant anti-drug operations conducted during the past weeks, the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN) has achieved major breakthroughs against illegal trafficking and possession of narcotic drugs. The operations resulted in the seizure of 3,937 kg Poppy Straw (Doda Chura), 9.6 kg Opium and 1.9 kg Hydroponic Cannabis (Ganja), along with ₹18.42 lakh in cash, six vehicles and one country-made pistol loaded with three live rounds. Four persons have been arrested in connection with the cases.

The CBN Rajasthan unit intercepted a truck carrying a concealed consignment of 2,292.460 kg Poppy Straw packed in 118 bags. The contraband was found concealed beneath a cover cargo of cement bags. Two persons were arrested and the truck was seized. During follow-up action, a motorcycle and a register were also recovered from the residential premises of one of the arrested persons.

In another operation, CBN Rajasthan unit recovered 1,037 kg Doda Chura packed in 56 bags from a premises where a Fortuner car loaded with the contraband was found. A country-made pistol loaded with three live rounds was also recovered from the vehicle.

CBN also recovered 340 kg Poppy Straw packed in 23 bags from a Tata Harrier car. In another interception, 156.7 kg Poppy Straw packed in nine bags was recovered from a Honda Amaze car after its occupant abandoned the vehicle and fled from the spot.
Further, 110 kg Poppy Straw was recovered from a Creta car, leading to the arrest of one person.

In another operation, CBN recovered 9.6 kg Opium along with ₹18.42 lakh in cash from residential premises. One person was arrested in the case.

In another significant action, CBN Rajasthan Unit searched an international parcel received from the USA at the Foreign Post Office, Jaipur. The search resulted in the recovery of 1.9 kg Hydroponic Cannabis (Ganja) concealed in four packets inside an air circulator box.

All the recovered contraband, vehicles and other articles have been seized under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
Further intensive investigation is underway in all the cases to identify the sources, destinations, supply channels and other persons/entities associated with the illegal trafficking and distribution of narcotic drugs.
