Washington, DC - U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-Del.) today released the following statement after voting for a Democratic-led continuing resolution to protect health care for millions of Americans and keep the government open:
"Today, I was proud to vote for a bill that would fund the government while addressing the health care crisis created by President Trump and his allies in Congress. Across America, hospitals are being forced to close, and Americans will soon have to pay more for, or completely lose, health care coverage. All while the Executive Branch attempts to subvert Congress' ability to govern and fight for the communities we serve.
"These are not normal times. The contrast couldn't be clearer: vote to protect the health of children and families and keep government open or continue to allow the President to demolish the separation of powers outlined in our Constitution. If Republicans are serious about averting a government shutdown, they need to meet us at the negotiating table."
