During the course of the investigation, detectives observed activity consistent with large-scale narcotics trafficking. After conducting surveillance and coordinating with uniformed officers, police safely detained several individuals connected to the operation. A search of a nearby apartment uncovered multiple vacuum-sealed packages of illegal drugs hidden inside the residence.
Four adults were arrested and booked into jail on various felony drug charges, including possession and transportation of controlled substances for sale. The suspects were identified as 22-year-old Melanie Castaneda, 21-year-old Andres Ramirez, 25-year-old Jason Ripberger, and 24-year-old Anaiza Ramirez.
"This operation reflects the dedication and teamwork of our officers and detectives who work tirelessly to protect our community from the devastation caused by dangerous drugs like fentanyl," said El Cajon Police Chief Jeremiah Larson. "Our department remains committed to keeping El Cajon safe through proactive enforcement and strong community partnerships."
The El Cajon Police Department urges residents to continue reporting suspicious activity and to remain vigilant against the dangers posed by illegal narcotics.
