Cleco employees volunteered at the Central Louisiana Homeless Coalition ("CLCH") as part of the company's Done in a Day program.
Cleco's Done in a Day program furthers the company's partnerships with charitable organizations across its service territory, as well as provides an opportunity for its employees to get involved in the community. Through the program, Cleco works with charitable organizations who request assistance with a project that can be completed within one day or a few hours.
Volunteers spent the afternoon painting the interior of the CLCH building, cleaning and brightening the space to be a welcoming environment for those in need.
CLCH provides showers, laundry services, hygiene products and supportive services for unsheltered individuals.
"Central Louisiana is home to many of our customers and employees. Through our volunteering, we help to create a better tomorrow for the community," said Colie Plaster, communications representative at Cleco and Done in a Day program coordinator.
"Our community, volunteers and companies such as Cleco here in central Louisiana make a huge difference for CLHC," said Kitty Wynn, executive director of the Central Louisiana Homeless Coalition. "We are a small local non-profit and do not have a lot of unrestricted funding for improvements to our facility. The painting by Cleco volunteers means so much to our staff and clients to help brighten our center. I am so grateful for the Cleco volunteers and all the support they have given us."
Cleco offers volunteer support across its 24-parish service territory. Organizations can request volunteer support by emailing [email protected].
