Sarah Bush Lincoln's annual Races for all Paces event raised $23,830.45 on June 6, setting a record amount in the 19th year of the event.
"The community always gives us great support at Races for all Paces, but setting a record amount for proceeds raised is another level of support that we are grateful for," SBL Health Communities Director Tracy Haddock said. "We are glad the community had fun that day and provided so much assistant for the dental program."
The SBL Dental Program receives funding, in part, from Races for all Paces every year. The program provides preventive and restorative care for children throughout the area. A dental team visits schools to provide the preventive care while the restorative care is provided in the dental clinic at 225 Richmond Avenue East, Suite B, in Mattoon.
Last year, the program served 4,109 children, with many of those children receiving care on the dental bus, which visited 69 schools.
"Sometimes we treat children who may have four cavities or more, and some children do not have toothbrushes," Haddock said. "The support we receive, through things like Races for all Paces, allow us to meet the needs of children in the community. We also benefit from generous donations from the SBL WomenConnected group and are grateful for their support."
Haddock thanks all the race participants, volunteers and SBL employees who helped make the event a success this year. She also thanks Title Sponsors SC3F Wealth Management and First Mid Wealth Management.
