Minister Konaković met with the Algerian Prime Minister Ghrieb and the Minister of Energy, Mining, and Renewable Energy Arkab

On April 27, 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Elmedin Konaković, held separate meetings with the Prime Minister of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, Sifi Ghrieb, and the Minister of Energy, Mining, and Renewable Energy Sources, Mohamed Arkab, during his official visit to Algeria.

Both sides reaffirmed their good and friendly relations, with a mutual commitment to further deepen and strengthen their connection in areas of common interest.

In his meeting with Prime Minister Ghrieb, Minister Konaković emphasized that this visit underscores the strong partnership between the two countries and expresses their shared readiness to intensify cooperation, particularly in the fields of energy, dedicated industries, gas infrastructure, and agriculture. He expressed satisfaction with the organization of the Open Day of Economic Cooperation between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Algeria, which was held in Sarajevo the previous week. Konaković highlighted the importance of the Economic Forum as a key platform for connecting business communities and advancing joint projects, especially in the energy sector. He also noted the significance of Energoinvest's long-standing presence in the Algerian market and its contribution to strengthening economic ties through major project implementation.

Prime Minister Ghrieb acknowledged Algeria's special focus on its relationship with Bosnia and Herzegovina, expressing readiness to establish a fruitful and mutually beneficial partnership. He noted that the next phase of cooperation would prioritize economic development and the execution of concrete joint projects. Minister Konaković took this opportunity to promote the tourist potential of Bosnia and Herzegovina, inviting Algerian tourists to explore the country's natural beauty and rich cultural and historical heritage.

In his meeting with Minister Arkab, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation, exchange experiences further, and launch new initiatives in the fields of energy efficiency, renewable energy sources, and infrastructure projects. The participants underscored that collaboration in the energy sector serves as one of the key pillars of the overall relations between the two countries.

This meeting was characterized as a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations and improving energy security, with a particular focus on implementing joint projects of mutual interest. They also considered the possibility of cooperation in the area of natural gas supply, taking into account current geopolitical trends and the need to diversify energy sources.
