Newton County recently appointed three new directors, filling positions to lead Animal Services, Geographic Information Systems and Information Systems.
Aleah Levendusky was promoted to Animal Services Director Dec. 15, after serving as Shelter Manager for Newton County. Levendusky began her career with Newton County Animal Services in February 2021 and has served as Interim Director since 2025.
Carmen Cunningham began as the Geographic Information Systems Director on Dec 1, 2025. She comes to Newton County following her time with the GIS Software company ESRI. Cunningham brings more than 10 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems development and data management. She specializes in data-driven strategic planning and is committed to fostering a collaborative environment and implementing innovative GIS.
Sorrells was promoted to Information Systems Director on Dec. 1 2025, after serving as Interim Director. Sorrells has worked in Newton County's IS department for nine years, with 15 years of overall information technology experience. He plans to improve the network/wireless infrastructure and system security of Newton County's infrastructure.
