Preliminary investigation revealed that the PPB Patrol Officer saw a 2017 Audi Q7 and another vehicle stopped in a lane of travel at Southeast 119th Avenue and Southeast Clinton Street. The officer, anticipating that the drivers were about to engage in speed racing, did a U-turn to initiate a traffic stop. Before the officer activated his emergency lights, both cars accelerated away in a reckless manner and rounded the corner eastbound on Southeast Division Street. At Southeast Division Street at Southeast 148th Avenue, the Audi clipped a semi-truck and crashed.

Traffic #ALERT: Fatal Crash Investigation in the Centennial Neighborhood
A fatal traffic crash investigation is underway in the Centennial Neighborhood, affecting traffic at Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Division Street.
On Friday, November 7, 2025 at 2:57 a.m., a Portland Police officer assigned to East Precinct observed two vehicles that were driving recklessly near Southeast 119th Avenue and Division Street. The officer began the process of initiating a traffic stop, but both vehicles eluded eastbound Division before the officer even activated emergency lights. The officer then came upon one of the involved vehicles crashed into a utility pole at Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Division Street. The driver, believed to be the only occupant of the vehicle, was deceased at the scene. The other eluding vehicle was not initially located.
The Portland Police Traffic Division Major Crash Team is responding to the scene to investigate the crash. During the investigation, the intersection of Southeast 148th Avenue and Southeast Division Street is closed in all directions.
