As of September 12, 2025, Dinosaur National Monument is rescinding the Stage 2 fire restrictions order that was enacted on August 1, 2025. Recent precipitation has lessened fire danger in the monument to a point where year-round restrictions provide the necessary fire prevention measures.

Year-round fire restrictions pursuant to regulations of the Department of Interior, 36 Code of Federal Regulations, and Dinosaur National Monument Superintendent's Compendium under sections under sections 2.13 Fires, and 2.38 Explosives on the area, roads, and trails described below in Dinosaur National Monument.

  1. Front country - Wood or charcoal fires are restricted to permanent monument-installed metal fire rings or grills. Visitors may use portable gas and charcoal grills where the monument installed above ground fire rings or grills exist. Charcoal and wood fire must be cooled and extinguished to the point of being cold where no embers remain.

  4. Lighting and maintaining any type of fire, including but not limited to cigarettes, candles, lanterns, grills and stoves, is prohibited within any historical structure unless authorized by the Superintendent.5.
