Hy-Vee Making Dinnertime Easier for National Family Meals Month

September 2, 2025 | Promotions

Hy-Vee is making it easier for families to share a good meal throughout September for National Family Meals Month.

Created by FMI - The Food Industry Association, National Family Meals Month is an industry-inspired movement to raise consumer awareness of the health and societal benefits of sharing frequent family meals. Research shows that children who eat regular family meals typically earn better grades, improve their nutrition, enjoy stronger family relationships and higher self-esteem, and are less likely to use drugs and alcohol.

While it's often difficult for families to find time to sit down and enjoy a meal together, studies have shown having quality time as a family benefits all family members, especially children. That's why Hy-Vee is committed to bringing families together around the dinner table by making mealtime simpler.

Special events and initiatives throughout National Family Meals Month include the following:

  • Hy-Vee is giving away free meals at designated drive-thru locations in select markets. Customers will have their choice of chicken enchiladas, fettucine alfredo and baked ziti.
  • Hy-Vee is offering free ice cream sundaes with the purchase of each steak meal during weekly steak nights in the month of September in select markets.
  • Kids aged 12 and under eat for free with the purchase of an adult entrĂ©e at Hy-Vee Market Grille locations.
