10 September 2026, Basseterre, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis - The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) is hosting the 4th Regional Central Bank Communications Conference from 9 to 11 September 2026 at the Bank's headquarters in Basseterre, Saint Christopher (St Kitts) and Nevis.
The three-day conference is being held under the theme, "Engage, Listen, Adapt - Reshaping Central Bank Communication for Public Trust". It brings together central bank communication professionals and other specialists from across the region and internationally.
ECCB Governor Timothy N.J. Antoine addressed the conference participants during his opening remarks, saying, "At the ECCB, our Strategic Communications Framework is built around four principles. Communication should be transparent, trustworthy, timely, and two-way. In that regard, we must continually ask whether our communication is working. Did people engage? Did understanding increase? Did behaviour change? Did communication contribute to meaningful action?"
The programme is organised around three areas of focus: Foundations of Listening - Stakeholder Engagement Frameworks; Communicating Complexity - From Data to Dialogue; and From Listening to Action - Closing the Loop.
The annual conference brings together communication professionals from the 11 central banks whose governors comprise the CARICOM Committee of Central Bank Governors: the Centrale Bank van Aruba; Central Bank of The Bahamas; Central Bank of Barbados; Central Bank of Belize; Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten; Eastern Caribbean Central Bank; Bank of Guyana; Banque de la République d'Haïti; Bank of Jamaica; Centrale Bank van Suriname; and Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago.
The programme features keynote addresses, a fireside chat, panel discussions, and six practical "Island Cases" sharing experiences from six regional central banks.
Representatives of the Caribbean School of Media and Communication at The University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica; the European Central Bank; the Central Bank of Sri Lanka; the International Monetary Fund; and De Nederlandsche Bank will contribute through keynote addresses, the fireside chat, and panel discussions. Marek Petruš, Communications Advisor, who worked with the ECCB's Corporate Relations Department to develop this year's programme and has served as a consultant to the conference series since its inception, will serve as Conference Moderator.
The conference will conclude with group presentations of action plans, conference reflections, and institutional commitments; closing remarks by Governor Antoine; and the announcement of the 2027 host institution.
