BLISS, Idaho - Snake River water levels downstream of Lower Salmon Falls Dam will be lowered by up to two feet (24 inches) Tuesday morning to accommodate a routine annual inspection of the Shoestring Bridge by the Idaho Department of Transportation (ITD). Flows will begin to increase Tuesday afternoon and should return to current levels by Wednesday morning.
Idaho Power is helping to facilitate ITD's inspection by altering flows from the Bliss and Lower Salmon reservoirs upstream. Water users may notice changes to water elevations starting as soon as Monday evening and should use extra caution along the shorelines.
The company will release additional water from Lower Salmon Falls Dam starting Monday to enable the reservoir to hold back water during the ITD inspection on Tuesday. At the same time, Bliss Reservoir levels will rise as water is held back. The inspection is expected to take about three hours Tuesday morning, starting as early as 9 a.m.
Normal flows will resume once the inspection is complete.
