DENVER - Today, Governor Polis appointed M. Christina Floyd to Lake County Court in the 5th Judicial District. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the resignation of the Honorable John G. Scott, and is effective immediately. Governor Polis also appointed Jeffrey M. Cure to the Kit Carson County Court in the 13th Judicial District. The appointment fills the vacancy created by the retirement of the Honorable Michael K. Grinnan, and is effective September 1, 2026.
M. Christina Floyd
Ms. Floyd is the Founder and Managing Attorney at Rocky Mountain General Counsel, LLC, a position she has held since 2019. Her practice consists of civil matters. Previously, she was County Attorney (2021-2025) and Special Counsel (2016-2020) for the Lake County Attorney's Office; Presiding Municipal Judge for the City of Leadville (2020-2025); Founder and Managing Attorney at Hampton Roads General Counsel, PLLC (2011-2023); Senior Counsel at Vandeventer Black, LLP (2006-2011); General Counsel at Hall Automotive (2002-2007); General Counsel at Metro Information Services, Inc. (1998-2002); Attorney at Gentry Locke Rakes & Moore (1993-1998); and Law Clerk for Judge William Prince, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (1992-1993). Ms. Floyd earned her B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1982 and her J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1992.
Jeffrey M. Cure
Mr. Cure is a Municipal Judge for the Town of Flagler and the Town of Seibert, positions he has held since 2011. His dockets consist of civil matters. He is also a Partner at Richards Carrington, LLC, a position he has held since 2025. Previously, he was a Partner at CureLaw, PC (2009-2025). Mr. Cure earned his B.A. from Metropolitan State University in 2005 and his J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law in 2008.
