In August 2026, less net electricity was generated than in August 2025
Compared to the same month last year, electricity production decreased while energy supply increased.

Total net electricity generation and export lower, import higher than a year ago
In August 2026, total net electricity generation was 919 GWh. Compared to July, it decreased by 7% and by 13% compared to August 2025.
Compared to the same month last year, electricity generation in hydro power plants decreased by 33%, in thermal power plants by 42% and in nuclear power plant by 9% while it increased at solar and wind power plants by 19%.
In line with lower production in thermal power plants, fuel consumption decreased. Total fuel consumption was 30% lower than a year ago.
869 GWh of electricity was imported and 716 GWh was exported. Compared to the same month last year, import increased by 12% and export decreased by 14%.
Electricity consumption in business entities lower than in the previous month, in households higher
In August, households consumed 251 GWh and business entities 593 GWh of electricity. With 279 GWh consumed, manufacturing dominated. Compared with the previous month, electricity consumption in households went up by 7%, and in business entities down by 4%.
Energy supply down at the monthly and up at the annual level
Compared to July, the supply of energy commodities in general went down: of Hard Coal by 57%, of Other Petroleum Products by 22%, of coke oven coke by 12%, of Transport Diesel Oil by 6%, and of Natural Gas by 5%. Supply of lignite and brown coal was not detected. On the other hand, the supply of Kerosene Jet Fuel went up by 121%, and of Motor Gasoline by 5%.
Compared to last August, the supply of energy commodities increased: of Kerosene Jet Fuel by 112%, of Transport Diesel Oil by 7%, of coke oven coke by 6%, of Motor Gasoline by 5%, and of Heating and Other Gasoil by 2%.
