Mount St. Joseph University's Department of Creative Arts invites the campus and Greater Cincinnati community to an inspiring evening of choral music on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in Mater Dei Chapel. The Fall Concert will feature a performance of French composer Gabriel Fauré's celebrated Requiem, along with additional selections showcasing the talents of the University's vocal ensembles.
Known for its beautiful melodies, rich harmonies, and peaceful reflection, Fauré's Requiem is among the most beloved works in the choral repertoire. Unlike many traditional requiems that emphasize judgment and sorrow, Fauré's composition offers a message of comfort, hope, and eternal rest. The intimate setting of Mater Dei Chapel provides a meaningful backdrop for this moving musical experience.
The performance will feature soprano Hallie (Browning) Esterkamp and baritone Stephen Hanna, accompanied by an instrumental ensemble. Three of the Mount's vocal groups University Singers, University Chamber Choir, and Voices of Gold will come together to present the featured work while also performing additional selections that highlight the unique musical character of each ensemble.
The evening's performances will be conducted by Marisa Larson and Dr. David Castillo Gocher, with Dr. Eunhwa Lee serving as accompanist.
The Fall Concert celebrates the dedication, artistry, and collaboration of Mount St. Joseph University's student musicians and faculty. Through performances like this, the Department of Creative Arts continues to enrich campus life while sharing the transformative power of music with the surrounding community.
The concert is free and open to the public. Community members, alumni, students, faculty, and friends of the University are warmly encouraged to attend.
