13 first-generation scholars join Tri-Alpha Honor Society at Penn State Altoona

Penn State Altoona inducted 13 new members into the Theta Chi Chapter of the Tri-Alpha Honor Society during a ceremony held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, on campus. ALTOONA, Pa. - Penn State Altoona inducted 13 new members into the Theta Chi Chapter of the Tri-Alpha Honor Society during a ceremony held Wednesday, Nov. 12, on campus.

Inductees received a pin and certificate, and students were given cords to wear during commencement. The chapter now has a total of 19 active student members and 30 active faculty and staff members.

Tri-Alpha recognizes the academic achievements of first-generation college students who must have 30 credits and a 3.2 GPA. It also promotes leadership and provides support networks.

Inductees include staff member Kasey Anderson and students Darson Antoine, Victor Bejarano, Haylie Brown, Makyrah Clyburn, McCailey Flaugh, Elena Gajo, Mackenzie Latchford, Jaidyn Palladini, Kassie Resig, Brian Sasaguay, Frankie Stricker and Bayleigh Tillett.
