Notable Trends

• Three aggravated assaults reported with one still an open investigation. In one case, officers arrested the suspect after he hit and strangled the victim. In another arrest, the suspect shot the victim during an argument with a pepper ball gun loaded with a hard projectile, causing significant injury. He fled and was located after extensive searching. Officers also recovered almost 5 grams of meth, a scale and almost $500 in cash in his backpack23.
• One auto theft reported. The keys to the car were stolen in a residential burglary where the suspect likely entered through an unsecured back sliding door.
• Six residential burglaries reported with four arrests. One case resulted in the auto theft this week. One arrest was a violation of a no contact order. In another arrest, the victim knew the suspect, who entered their home without permission. In another case, two juveniles and a young adult kicked in the front door and stole a TV. Witnesses reported the incident as it was happening and all three suspects were located and arrested. The TV was recovered in the woods. In one case, the suspect entered a home through an unlocked window and stole an iPad. In another case, officers arrested the suspect for burglary and robbery after he entered the victim's tent without permission and then hit the victim in the head with something hard and stole trading cards.
• Three robberies reported with two arrests, including the case that the suspect was arrested for burglary. In the other arrest, the suspect threatened to mace a loss prevention employee trying to stop a shoplift. He left in a car that broke down across the street and fled on foot. Officers confirmed his identification with security footage and vehicle registration info, and he was later located and arrested. In the last case, the suspect insinuated he had a weapon in his pocket while stealing cigarettes.

• Officers responded to 1,109 calls for service this week.
