Fried Frank today announced its commitment as a lead donor to the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial, to be located in Brooklyn Bridge Park. The memorial, coordinated by the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Commission, will celebrate the life, legacy and lasting impact of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg - a Brooklyn native, trailblazer and lifelong champion of justice.
"As a firm, we are privileged to help honor the legacy of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose unwavering commitment to justice inspires our work every day," said Fried Frank chairman Kenneth I. Rosh.
This philanthropic pledge reflects Fried Frank's deep connection to Justice Ginsburg and her late husband, Martin (Marty) D. Ginsburg, who was a longtime tax partner in Fried Frank's Washington, DC, office.
"Marty's decades of service as a tax partner in our Washington, DC, office helped set a standard for excellence and collegiality," added Rosh.
"Thank you to the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Commission for providing us this opportunity to honor Justice Ginsburg's legacy," said Jonathan L. Mechanic, partner and chairman of Fried Frank's Real Estate Department and longtime member of the NYU Board of Trustees.
"This memorial will be an important and meaningful tribute to Justice Ginsburg in her hometown," said Trevor Morrison, a member of the Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Commission, the Eric M. and Laurie B. Roth professor of law and dean emeritus at New York University School of Law, and a former clerk to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. "We are thrilled to receive the support of Fried Frank."
The Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial will be situated at Pier 1 in Brooklyn Bridge Park, providing a vibrant and accessible space for reflection, education and inspiration for generations to come. As planning for the memorial moves forward, New York State and the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial Commission has issued a call for artists' proposals to design a tribute worthy of Justice Ginsburg's legacy. Artists from across the country are encouraged to submit innovative concepts that capture her spirit, contributions and enduring influence.
All donations to the project should be directed to Brooklyn Org, for the benefit of the Ruth Bader Ginsburg Memorial.
