Question No.: 2152

Question by: Mr Gerald Giam Yean Song

To ask the Minister for National Development (a) whether the Ministry has assessed the potential impact of nearby developments, including the construction of the North-South Corridor, on the tomb of pioneer Seah Eu Chin at Toa Payoh; and (b) what specific measures are being taken to ensure the long-term protection and preservation of the historical burial site.

Answer:

The North-South Corridor works will not affect the grave of Seah Eu Chin. The Government recognises the heritage value of the grave, and our agencies have been studying how it can be retained when developing land use plans for the area.
