On June 22nd, 2026 at approximately 7:30pm, SPD responded to an apartment complex in the area of 121 E Wedgewood on Spokane's north side. The initial calls to 911 indicated screaming could be heard in the parking lot and that a child had been struck by a vehicle.

Officers arrived to find a seven-year-old with obvious injuries stemming from the collision. Medics quickly responded and the child was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition.

Officers contacted the driver of the vehicle and quickly observed signs of impairment. The driver was cooperative with law enforcement during the course of the investigation. Information obtained at the scene indicated the child was riding a bicycle in the parking lot when struck by the vehicle. The investigation would also indicate recent drug use before the incident took place.

The driver, 34-year-old Adrianna N. McConnell, was taken into custody and booked into the Spokane County Jail for one count of Vehicular Assault.
