International experts create growth and jobs in Finland. A new campaign aims to attract international top talent in the deep technology sectors from India, Brazil and the United States, as well as European countries.
"Finland needs the best possible skills available. The campaign will make the Finnish innovation sector better known around the world and encourage international experts to seize the opportunities it offers. Finland has huge potential to be a leading country in the deep-tech sectors, and we must support this vision for the future by every means. This includes ensuring that we have the right kind of competence," says Minister of Employment Matias Marttinen.
Work in Finland - the national body for international recruitment - will launch a new talent attraction campaign in September 2025. The campaign will help Finnish companies, research institutions and universities to find and recruit international experts and researchers, especially in the technology sector. Digital marketing, international media, events and networks will be used to highlight Finnish employers and job opportunities available in Finland. The campaign will also support a call for applications of the Research Council of Finland to promote the recruitment of foreign researchers in Finnish universities.
"Finland does not have enough experts to meet the needs of cutting-edge research or the technology business. Global competition in quantum computing, photonics and health technology is fierce. Talents from abroad will help Finland remain in the innovation competition and attract international business to Finland," says Laura Lindeman, Senior Director of Work in Finland.
Finland is an interesting country for experts because of the open and stable society, high technological expertise and a good quality of life. Now the career opportunities available to top talent in Finland will be highlighted more prominently in international markets. The services provided by the authorities will also be streamlined to make them easier to use.
"In addition to the European market, we are targeting India, Brazil, and the United States, where we believe the amount of suitable talent is high. Attracting top experts to Finland is worthwhile in all economic situations. The growth they promote will create jobs for Finnish people too," Minister of Employment Marttinen adds.
The aim is to make Finland one of the best countries in the world for high-tech experts to live in by 2030. Attracting experts is part of the Talent Boost programme and the partnership model for international recruitment outlined in the Government Programme.
