New York Fed to Release Research on Generative AI in the Workplace

April 08, 2026

NEW YORK-On Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 10:30 AM, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York will release a Liberty Street Economics blog post on the usage of generative AI (AI) in the workplace and the value workers place on AI training.

With AI rapidly reshaping the modern workplace, it is important to understand how the tool is affecting different workers across the labor market. With this in mind, the upcoming post explores who is using AI at work, their views on how much it improves their productivity, and how they expect AI will impact the unemployment rate. It also examines employees' access to AI training, the monetary value employees attach to that training, and why they are interested in it.

The findings in this blog post are based on supplemental questions fielded in the November 2025 Survey of Consumer Expectations (SCE). The SCE is a nationally representative survey of a rotating panel of approximately 1,200 household heads.

Press Call on Research on Gen AI Usage in the Workplace: Authors of the blog will host a deep background press call on Tuesday, April 14 at 9:30 AM ET to provide further context on the research. Journalists interested in participating should RSVP to Connor Munsch at [email protected].
