Three Teens Arrested; Stolen Vehicle and Guns Recovered

Investigation by Vehicle Crimes detectives Monday led to the arrest of three teens and the recovery of a stolen vehicle and three guns.

Detectives located a stolen 2017 Nissan Pathfinder parked at a Madison apartment complex at 5800 Maudina Avenue when three teens, later identified as Wesley Figures, 18, and two juveniles, ages 17 and 15, got into the SUV and drove off. Detectives followed with the assistance of a police helicopter. When detectives attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, Figures, rammed a police vehicle and drove a short distance before all three bailed from the SUV on Dr. MLK Jr. Boulevard/12th Avenue North. They were apprehended.

Detectives recovered a pistol from Figures' backpack which he had attempted to hide in some bushes. A gun that had been reported stolen last week was found in the flight path of the 17-year-old and a third firearm was recovered in the flight path of the 15-year-old.

Figures is charged with vehicle theft, vandalism, evading arrest, and contributing to the delinquency of minors. He is being held on $109,000 bond. The other two teens are charged in Juvenile court with vehicle theft, juvenile handgun possession (2nd offense for both), and evading arrest. Additionally, the 17-year-old is charged with theft of a firearm.
