A chance encounter in a hospital hallway led to a lasting friendship between Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital West custodian Freddie Wiggins and Sarah Hart, whose mother was being treated for Lewy body dementia. When Hart was struggling during a difficult moment, Wiggins offered comfort and a song that helped reach her mother in an unexpected way.
Their StoryCorps conversation, recorded in Nashville, recounts that first meeting and the bond that grew from it. The piece aired nationally on NPR's Morning Edition. Listen to hear Hart and Wiggins share the story of a friendship shaped by compassion and music.
