Winter Holiday Closure: December 24, 2025-January 2, 2026

UNION CITY, CA, December 12, 2025 - The City of Union City's annual Holiday Closure, in observance of the Winter Holiday Season, will be from Wednesday, December 24, 2025, through Friday, January 2, 2026. City offices participating in the Holiday Closure will re-open for business on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Emergency services will not be affected by the holiday closure.

CITY HALL
City Hall will be closed from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 through Friday, January 2, 2026, and will re-open on Monday, January 5, 2026.

POLICE DEPARTMENT
Union City Police Records Division will be closed on the following dates:

• Wednesday, December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve)
• Thursday, December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day)
• Thursday, January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day)

The Records Division will be open on Friday, December 26, 2025 and Friday, January 2, 2026.

PUBLIC WORKS

• Regularly scheduled street sweeping is suspended citywide, from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 through Friday, January 2, 2026.
• Street sweeping will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.

UNION CITY TRANSIT

• Union City Transit, Union City Paratransit & Union City Flea are not operating on Thursday, December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day) and Thursday, January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day).
• The last day to order paratransit ticket booklets online before City Offices close for the holiday break is Tuesday, December 23, 2025, before 10:00 AM. Paratransit ticket books are also available at the Customer Service counter in Safeway at The Marketplace Shopping Center on Decoto Road at Alvarado-Niles Road.
• To order more booklets, visit www.unioncity.org/172/Paratransit
• There will be no Clipper sales available at City Hall from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 through Friday, January 2, 2026. Clipper sales will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.
• To add value to your Clipper account during this period, please visit the Union City BART Intermodal Station ticket machines, visit www.clippercard.com/reload or call 877.878.8883.

UC RECYCLES / TRASH COLLECTION

• December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day): No collection service will be provided on Christmas Day. Collection scheduled for Thursday, December 25, 2025 will occur on Friday, December 26, 2025. Collection scheduled for Friday, December 26, 2025 will occur on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
• January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day): No collection service will be provided on New Year's Day. Collection scheduled for Thursday, January 1, 2026 will occur on Friday, January 2, 2026. Collection scheduled for Friday, January 2, 2026 will occur on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

COMMUNITY AND RECREATION SERVICES

• Mark Green Sports Center will be closed on Wednesday, December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve) and Thursday, December 25, 2025 (Christmas Day). There will be reduced hours from 7:00 AM-12:00 PM on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (New Year's Day) and Thursday, January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day).
• Homeless Division, Youth & Family Services, Kennedy Youth Center, Holly Community Center and Ruggieri Senior Center will all be closed from Wednesday, December 24, 2025 through Friday, January 2, 2026.
• CAREavan Safe Overnight Parking Program will be operating its regular nightly schedule over the holidays except for Wednesday, December 24, 2025 (Christmas Eve) where it will be relocated to the Ruggieri Senior Center.
• Decoto Resource Center will be open from 9:00 AM-4:00 PM on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 and Friday, January 2, 2026.
