Lakers Basketball advances to NCAA Final Four

The GVSU Women's Basketball Team took another step toward a title repeat in their Elite Eight matchup on March 24. In Pittsburgh's UMPC Cooper Fieldhouse, the No. 1-seeded Lakers defeated the No. 8-seeded Carson-Newman Eagles 96-48.

Senior Nicole Kamin and sophomore Ava Scanlon led the team in scoring, tallying 16 points each. Senior Lexi Plitzuweit led GVSU with six assists. Alongside a strong offensive performance, the Lakers' defense forced 17 Carson-Newman turnovers, including five steals and two blocks by Kamin.

The victory sends GVSU to the Division II Final Four, where the team will play on March 26 the winner of the Cal Poly Pomona and Alabama Huntsville game.

The Lakers' Final Four game can be watched on ESPN+ with a subscription, by tuning in to 106.1 FM/1340 AM on the radio or by following along on the GVSU Athletics website .
