The City of Santa Rosa invites the community to celebrate the grand opening of the newly constructed Fire Station 5 with a traditional Hose Uncoupling Ceremony on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The event will take place at the new station, located at 1492 Fountaingrove Parkway, and is free and open to the public.
The Hose Uncoupling Ceremony, a fire service tradition symbolizing the opening of a new station, will include remarks from city leaders, public safety officials, project partners, and state and federal representatives. Guests will enjoy guided tours of the state-of-the-art facility and its yard features, as well as opportunities to meet local fire personnel and learn about the station's resilient design.
"Fire Station 5 shows how Santa Rosa is emerging stronger since the fires" said Mayor Mark Stapp. "This station reflects our commitment to safety, resilience, and the future of Santa Rosa."
Informational display booths will share the City's journey from the devastation of theTubbs Fire in October 2017 to recovery, including a time-lapse video of Fire Station 5's construction. These exhibits highlight the station's advanced design and its role in strengthening emergency response capabilities for the community.
"We're proud to serve from this modern facility that supports both our team and the community," said Fire Chief Scott Westrope. "Fire Station 5 helps ensure we're prepared to meet the needs of Santa Rosa today and into the future."
Fire Station 5 stands as a symbol of Santa Rosa's resilience following the destruction of the original station during the Tubbs Fire. After years of planning and collaboration, the City broke ground on the new station in July 2023, marking a major milestone in rebuilding critical infrastructure. Now, with the grand opening on November 15, 2025, the station represents not only recovery, but a commitment to future preparedness and community safety.
The new Fire Station 5 was built with resilience and sustainability at its core. The facility incorporates wildfire-resistant materials, advanced seismic safety features, and energy-efficient systems to ensure operational continuity during emergencies. Its design supports rapid response times and includes modern technology to enhance firefighter readiness and community protection.
