Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport Air Service Update

November 6th, 2025

View Full Statement (PDF)

Please see the statement below from Andy Moore, Airport Director at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport:

"Spirit Airlines will no longer operate at Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport (ROC) after January 7, 2026 as a result of their recent bankruptcy filing. The airline is in Chapter 11 for the second time in less than a year and is ending operations in several airports around the country. While disappointed, we wish Spirit well as they address their financial situation. As a reminder ROC still offers two nonstop flights to Orlando-MCO every Saturday on Southwest Airlines. Starting in January 2026, Southwest will provide daily flights to Orlando-MCO. In addition, Avelo Airlines provides multiple flights per week to Lakeland/Orlando. ROC remains committed to working with our current airline partners to recruit and secure additional nonstop service to the Orlando area."
