LOS ANGELES (September 9, 2026) - As Los Angeles experiences extreme heat and humidity today, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) is calling on customers to conserve electricity where possible while staying safe, through 8:00 p.m. tonight. Conservation by customers in L.A.'s westside communities is especially requested as temperatures remain unusually high in the area. Conservation will help reduce strain on local distribution equipment and help prevent outages.
Additionally, LADWP is monitoring energy supply and flow into and across the city, and is using all available all energy generation to meet customer demand.
To help conserve energy, LADWP asks customers to do the following:
LADWP crews are always at the ready to respond to any power outages. To report any loss of power, call 1-800-DIAL-DWP. If and when an incident occurs, our crews are hard at work to restore said power incidents to affected customers as quickly and safely as possible.
