Duckworth, Durbin Announce More Than $942K for Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport

[CHICAGO, IL] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced $942,571 in federal funding through the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Authority for Springfield's Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport to be used for runway rehabilitation.

"Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport is an essential economic hub for the Springfield and the source of jobs for so many working families," Duckworth said. "I'm proud to join Senator Durbin in announcing this investment of federal funding to help support critical runway improvements. I will continue working to make traveling more efficient and reliable for all passengers while ensuring that our communities are receiving the much-needed federal resources they deserve."

"By improving airport infrastructure, we are laying the foundation for increased connectivity and reliability," said Durbin. "This federal funding for Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport will upgrade the airport's infrastructure and promote economic growth. I will continue working with Senator Duckworth and state, local, and county partners to ensure our state's regional airports have the necessary federal resources."
