Gilbert PD Arrest Man in Connection with Fatal Shooting Investigation

Gilbert, Ariz. - On Monday, January 19, Gilbert PD responded to a home in the 500 block of East Sheffield Avenue just before 1:00 AM for a welfare check call for service .

Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim identified as 21-year-old Angelys Spurgeon deceased inside the residence with evidence of a gunshot injury. Officers checked the welfare of other occupants inside the residence and detained 26-year-old Judah Chesley. It was determined that the victim and Chesley were allegedly in a domestic relationship.

Gilbert Police detectives responded and assumed the investigation, conducting interviews and collecting evidence at the residence. Chesley was ultimately arrested and booked into the custody of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office on one charge of A.R.S. 13-1104(A)(2), Second Degree Murder. This investigation remains ongoing.
