Kansas City Man Charged with Unlawfully Possessing Ammunition

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City, Mo., man has been charged by criminal complaint with being a felon in possession of ammunition.

Daron L. Fry, 21, appeared in federal court on a criminal complaint signed by United States Magistrate Judge Jill A. Morris. According to court documents, on or about Aug. 25, 2026, Fry was arrested on multiple outstanding Kansas City municipal warrants, after which Fry consented to a search of his bedroom. During the search, officers found nineteen rounds of .40 caliber ammunition in the nightstand drawer inside that bedroom. Officers also located an AR-style pistol and what appeared to be a 3D printed auto sear-a device that functions to convert a semi-automatic firearm into a fully automatic one.

The charges contained in this complaint are simply accusations, and not evidence of guilt. Evidence supporting the charges must be presented to a federal trial jury, whose duty is to determine guilt or innocence.

Under federal statutes, Fry is subject to a sentence of up to 15 years in federal prison without parole. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes, as the sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory sentencing guidelines and other statutory factors.
