State Rep. Chris Miller Slams Illinois Democrats Over Their Anti-Police Bill
Springfield, IL…Illinois Democrats recently filed legislation to ban former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers hired during President Donald Trump's administration from being hired as local police officers. State Representative Chris Miller (R-Hindsboro) says Democrats in Illinois' anti-police rhetoric emboldens criminals and is a slap in the face to the men and women who protect our communities.
"Once again, the very people who take an oath to protect our communities from dangerous criminals are being attacked by the radical Democrats in Illinois," Miller said. "This bill is nothing more than a political stunt to undermine the duties of federal officers who risk their lives to protect American citizens. Pritzker started the dangerous rhetoric that is spreading hate against ICE and local police officers, and Democrats in the legislature are taking it to the next level. I stand with our law enforcement at the federal, state, and local level and strongly oppose this garbage."
SB2820 creates the Prohibited Hiring of Federal Immigration Officers Act. The bill states that law enforcement agencies are prohibited from hiring former ICE officers who were hired from January 20, 2025 through January 20, 2029.
