Congresswoman Luz Rivas Participates in Field Hearing in Minnesota to Hold ICE Accountable

ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA - Congresswoman Luz Rivas (CA-29) participated in a field hearing in Minnesota with over two dozen of her House Democratic Caucus colleagues on the Trump Administration's assault on the Minneapolis-St. Paul community in the wake of the murder of Renee Nicole Good by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.

"I am joining my colleagues from across the country in Minneapolis-St. Paul to show solidarity with the community and to assess the situation on the ground," said Congresswoman Rivas. "The stories I heard from community advocates and leaders show that Trump and ICE are making things worse for everyone in the area. This is a troubling pattern that we have seen too many times from ICE before, including in the San Fernando Valley, where ICE raids have targeted and torn apart families. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE need to be held accountable for the harm they are causing in communities across the country, and I will continue working with my colleagues to do just that."

Background:

Congresswoman joined Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (MN-05), and over two dozen Members of the House Democratic Caucus for a shadow field hearing on the Trump Administration's ICE assault in Minnesota.

This field hearing discussed Trump's ICE unlawful and aggressive actions in Minneapolis, and featured witnesses who spoke to personal traumas and constitutional violations.

Delia Ramirez (IL-03) to Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (OH-04) asking for a full and thorough investigation into Secretary Noem's unlawful and potentially impeachable actions.

On January 9, 2026, Rep. Rivas co-signed a letter by Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) to DHS Secretary Kristi Noem and ICE Acting Director Lyons demanding a full and transparent investigation on the shooting of Renee Nicole Good.
