On Friday, Rep. Adam Niemerg spoke at the Marshall High School iGovern Program for junior students. This was Niemerg's 4th year participating in the Leadership & Government Workshop for high school juniors.
"I am always excited to help teach and encourage young people to understand their government and be confident in knowing they can make a difference," said Niemerg, who is serving his third term in the Illinois House of Representatives from the 102nd District.
This year's "iGovern" Workshop included Sessions for the students to learn about different levels of government:
City Government - City Hall
Township Government - St. Mary's Parish Hall
County Government - Clark County Courthouse
State Government - Rep. Niemerg at St. Mary's Parish Hall
Marshal student Bo McFarland introduced Rep. Niemerg and is interested in learning more about state government through the Page-for-A-Day program at the Capitol.
"This year we have a dozen students interested in serving as Pages in the House," added Niemerg. "They will be able to schedule a day when we are in session to come and shadow me around the Illinois Capitol to committee hears, press conferences, and actual legislative session to see first-hand how the process works."
"Thank you to Becky Osborn the Marshall Leadership Team (MLT) Program Director, Jessie Crews, Fred Morecraft, Jennifer Bishop, Todd Kuhn, and social science teacher Curtiss Cline for all you to empower our next generation of leaders to know everything they can about being good citizens," concluded Niemerg.
