This Halloween season, State Treasurer Roby Smith is warning Iowans about something truly chilling: millions of dollars in unclaimed property hiding in plain sight! Great Iowa Treasure Hunt currently has more than $575 million in forgotten funds just waiting to be reunited with their rightful owners.
"While ghosts and goblins may be make-believe, unclaimed money is very real," said Treasurer Smith. "To date, Great Iowa Treasure Hunt has returned more than $415 million to Iowans, and there's still plenty of loot to claim!"
Finding your treasure does not take a ghost hunter either - visit GreatIowaTreasureHunt.gov, type your name in the search bar and see if you have unclaimed property waiting for you. It is completely free and might just be the best treat you find this Halloween.
So, before the full moon rises, grab your flashlight-or your smartphone-and search for your name, your best friend's name and your favorite business at GreatIowaTreasureHunt.gov.
Connect with the Treasurer on Facebook, Instagram and X, to stay informed of updates and news.
