Minister Shahin Meets Poland's Foreign Minister to Discuss Developments and Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Varsen Shahin met on Thursday with Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and the latest political and humanitarian developments in the occupied Palestinian territory.

Minister Shahin thanked Poland for hosting the meeting of Palestinian ambassadors in Europe and praised its support for Palestinian rights, humanitarian efforts, and positions in international forums, including opposition to settlement expansion and support for ensuring aid reaches Gaza.

She highlighted the importance of continued Polish humanitarian and development assistance, particularly in food, water, shelter, and medical supplies, and called for further support for the protection of Palestinian cultural heritage, including the nomination of Sebastia for UNESCO's List of World Heritage Sites in Danger.

Shahin also briefed Minister Sikorski on the worsening situation in Gaza and the West Bank, including ongoing military actions, restrictions on humanitarian aid, settlement expansion, settler violence, and land confiscation, stressing the need for international action to end these violations.

Minister Sikorski reaffirmed Poland's support for a two-state solution and noted that Poland recognized the State of Palestine in 1988. He stressed that the West Bank is not part of Israel and called for an end to illegal settlement activities and settler violence.

He also confirmed Poland's continued humanitarian and development assistance to Palestinians, which reached around $20 million between 2023 and 2025, and expressed support for Palestinian elections despite the difficult circumstances.

The meeting concluded with a joint press conference, during which both sides reaffirmed the importance of international efforts to achieve peace and end the suffering of the Palestinian people.
