GDOT Invites Youth to Enter “Slow Your Roll” Art Contest

The City of Greensboro Department of Transportation (GDOT) invites local middle and high school students, ages 11-17, to submit original artwork for the 2025 "Slow Your Roll" Yard Sign Art Contest. Entries will be accepted from November 10-December 31. The contest aims to give youth a creative way to make a difference in the community, with each sign serving as a reminder for drivers to travel at a safe speed.

The winning design will be featured on new yard signs displayed in neighborhoods throughout Greensboro to urge drivers to mind traffic safety and to consider others when driving through local areas. Since launching the Slow Your Roll initiative in 2023, GDOT has distributed more than 1,100 signs to promote safe driving.

All artwork must use the slogan "Slow Your Roll," and be designed in a landscape layout suitable for a 24" x 18" yard sign. Only one entry per person is permitted. Entries should be easy to read from the road and reflect themes promoting safe driving.

Choose from one of two submission options:

  • Digital entries are preferred (JPG, PNG, GIF, or PDF). Email artwork to [email protected] with the subject line "Slow Your Roll 2025 Contest" and the submitter's name.
  • Mail artwork and entry form to: Greensboro Department of Transportation, ATTN: Slow Your Roll Contest 2025 Submission, PO Box 3136, Greensboro, NC 27402-3136.

The Slow Your Roll campaign is part of GDOT's Neighborhood Traffic Management Program, which works to improve safety and livability on neighborhood streets through community-driven solutions.
