interest with the Black-owned global streaming channel, Discovered.TV, the ultra-popular content distribution platform. Affectionately known to his fans and supporters as

Simpson Show, which premiered on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and is available on YouTube, Discovered.TV, Apple Podcast, Spotify, and Amazon Music.

History has a strange way of repeating itself; the new studio home for The Donnie Simpson Show is taped at the DC Office of Cable, Television, Film, Music and Entertainment, formerly

known as the BET Studio, where Donnie taped his groundbreaking and award-winning flagship show, Video Soul for 14 years (1983 to 1997). "What a blessing it is to be back home in my

old studio and to be able to share my voice with the global community," says Donnie. "I look forward to expanding

my podcast internationally and giving others an opportunity to share their voice and talents on Discovered.TV."

As a world-renowned radio and television broadcaster, Donnie Simpson's historic career spans more than five decades. He has interviewed many of the top names in entertainment

including Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Elton John, David Bowie, Madonna, and Janet Jackson, as well as the late Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, James

Brown, Luther Vandross and Barry White, just to name a few.Donnie's love for music and radio started as a young child growing up in his native, Detroit, Michigan. His mother,

Dorothy Simpson, owned Simpson's Record Shop, a Mom & Pop store which opened in 1966. Young Donnie's interest in becoming a disc jockey began when WJLB-FM, a Detroit radio station,

broadcast live from the record store. He was asked to read live commercial spots that day, by legendary disc jockey Al Perkins, who wasimpressed by the 15-year-old's innate talent and big voice.

Within weeks, Simpson became a teen reporter for WJLB, and soon thereafter was given his own radio show. He became the youngest broadcaster on one of the most popular terrestrial radio stations

in the Motor City, a huge accomplishment for a 15-year-old.

After eight years on the Detroit airwaves, Simpson headed to Washington, DC in 1977, where he became the morning show host and program director for WKYS-FM. During that time, NBC owned WKYS-FM. For the first time in NBC's illustrious history of broadcasting

across the entire country, the network had its first-ever No. 1 radio station In 1981, Simpson made his television debut at NBC's WRC-TV in Washington, DC, becoming the backup sports anchor for legendary sportscaster George Michael. After two years in that role,

Donnie paved his way into television history when he joined America's first Black cable network, Black Entertainment Television (BET), as host of a startup show,Video Soul, which was the first music video show for Black artists that became popular. Donnie racked up hundreds of

memorable live interviews with many of the greatest and top recording artists of the century.

"This guy [Donnie Simpson] carried us on his shoulders," Bob Johnson often said to numerous reporters through the years. "You cannot write the history of BET without putting Donnie Simpson in the forefront as the major contributor to the creative and economic success of the company. He was Black Entertainment Television's first star."

In 1983, Billboard magazine named him as the country's No. 1 Program Director of the Year and Air Personality of the Year. He eventually left WKYS-FM to join two other radio stations in Washington, DC, where he took both stations to No. 1 as well.

Donnie would also add the silver screen to his list of accomplishments. Simpson appeared in classic films such as Krush Groove (1985) and The Five Heartbeats (1991). He also appeared on the popular sitcoms, Martin (1996) and The Jamie Foxx Show (1997), proving

that Donnie was indeed a cultural icon. Adored by millions, one of Simpson's biggest fans is President Barack Obama. During his Presidential campaign in 2008, President Obama stopped to record and send a congratulatory video message to Simpson, citing the media giant

for his longstanding role and many significant contributions in radio broadcasting.

After 30 years of broadcasting on Washington DC's airwaves, Simpson left WPGC-FM in January 2010. He took a five-and half-year hiatus from radio and returned to host the afternoon drive at Majic 102.3 in the Nation's Capital. The excitement from Simpson's

return was so astonishing, it was the No. 1 trending story on multiple social media platforms including Facebook and X, formerly known as Twitter during his first few days on-air. In 2024, Donnie officially retired from radio, after servicing 55 successful years in

broadcasting. In 2015, Simpson was inducted into the R&B Music Hall of Fame. He is the only non-musician inducted into the then 15-year history of the organization. Five years later, he was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame (2020) and the National Association of Broadcasters

Hall of Fame (2024). Additionally, Donnie was a recent recipient of the Living Legends Foundation (2024) for his five-decade career of exemplary broadcasting. Donnie Simpson's consistent success and No. 1 ratings during his 55-year career and his love for the people have earned him

"Icon" status from his peers and his millions of fans worldwide. Donnie looks forward to act two in his dual role at Discovered.TV and more importantly to help build an enterprise with a diverse media conglomerate that provides space for new voices for the next generation.
