The Cameron University Department of Art, Music, and Theatre Arts kicks off its 2025-26 season, "Resilience and Reverie," with "Unity (1918)," a Gothic romance and dark comedy by Kevin Kerr. The production will be presented from Thursday, October 2, through Sunday, October 5, in the University Theatre. The curtain goes up on Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Tickets purchased at the door are $12 for adults, $10 for senior citizens, members of the military, non-CU students and CU faculty and staff. Cameron University students receive one free admission with their CU I.D. Tickets can be reserved by calling the Box Office at 580-581-2346. The characters in "Unity (1918)" find themselves navigating the end of World War I amidst the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic in the small-town of Unity, Saskatchewan. Gabriella Aguilar-Freeman, Oberkirch, Germany; Skylar Edwards, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Shade Linville, Lawton, star as the Wilde sisters, whose lives entwine throughout the play.
Theo Cognet, El Paso, Texas, performs as fiercely independent mortician Sunna while Mvnte July, Tulsa, portrays Stan, a widowed farmer. Alexzander Ernest, Lawton, tackles the challenging role of Hart, a veteran who returns to the town after being blinded on the front lines of the war. Ryan Kaye, Greeley, Colo., and Natalie Hidalgo, Elgin, gossip throughout the play as telephone operators Rose and Doris.
Newcomers to the Cameron stage include Adam Etheridge, Elgin, as affable farm hand Michael; Gabriel Mace, Comanche, as WWI veteran Glen/Man 1; and Julian Ebacher, Caddo, as Man 2/Voice of Chaperone. Theatre alumna Victoria Spruill, Duncan, returns to the CU stage as the unnamed Voice.
The technical crew highlights students under faculty supervision. Rhia Pettigrew, Lawton, runs the show as the production's stage manager, assisted by Alex Bliefernich, Lawton, as assistant stage manager. In addition to performing, Kaye serves as assistant director and props designer, while Edwards works as assistant properties designer. Abbey Kirby, Houston, Texas, aids as light board operator.
Guiding the students through the production are director, costume designer and costume shop manager Jean Gerald Tartière, instructor; associate professor Ben Williams as technical director, scenic designer and lighting designer; and theatre facilities manager Joseph Roberts as sound designer.
