Community Development's New Landlord & Rental Registration

The Village of Richton Park is committed to maintaining a safe, attractive, and thriving community for all residents. As part of this ongoing effort, the Village Board has adopted new ordinances establishing a Landlord Registration Program (Ordinance #1883) and Short-Term Rental Registration Program (Ordinance #1893).

If you own or operate a rental property, short-term rental (including Airbnb, VRBO, and similar platforms), or both within the Village of Richton Park, you are required to register your property in accordance with the new ordinances.

Registration must be completed within 30 days of June 22, 2026 in order to avoid any additional fees.

These new requirements are designed to support:

• Safe and well-maintained housing for residents and guests
• Property upkeep that preserves neighborhood appearance and property values
• Accountable and responsive local contacts when issues arise
• Better communication between property owners and the Village
• Responsible property management practices that benefit the entire community

The Village recognizes that most property owners are responsible stewards of their investments. These ordinances are intended to create consistent standards that help protect the community while supporting quality housing options throughout Richton Park.
