On October 23, the Chinese Friendship Secondary School held a ceremony to celebrate its 15th anniversary. The event was attended by H.E. Ma Qiang, Chinese Ambassador to South Sudan, Ms. Huo Ying, Counselor of the Chinese Embassy, Hon. Silicio Zacharia, Minister of General Education of Central Equatoria State, Mr. Nelson Wani, Headteacher of the School, and over 500 teachers and students.
Ambassador Ma emphasized that, as Chinese President Xi Jinping pointed out, education is the fundamental way for mankind to pass on civilizations and knowledge, bring up new generations, and create a better life. China has consistently supported South Sudan's education, and will continue these efforts within its capacity by offering scholarships, donation and so on.
The South Sudanese side expressed gratitude for China's invaluable help, noting that they are fully confident about the future. They hailed "Long live China!" and "Long live China-South Sudan friendship!"
The event also featured sharing of peacekeeping experience by Ms. Tao Sirui, Chinese staff officer from the UNMISS Force Headquarters, a military martial arts demonstration by two soldiers from the 11th Chinese Peacekeeping Infantry Battalion in Juba, South Sudan, and a session on traditional Chinese medical knowledge and medicine donations by the 13th batch of Chinese Medical Team to South Sudan as well as the wonderful songs and dances performed by representatives of students.
