May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to recognize the importance of emotional well-being. Throughout the month, Emory is highlighting a range of programs and services available to employees.
Emory University employees have access to the Faculty Staff Assistance Program (FSAP). This free and confidential benefit provides counseling, consultation and educational resources to support mental health, work-life balance and well-being.
During May, FSAP will host a variety of events, workshops and outreach opportunities, which are available to explore on the FSAP events calendar.
FSAP is also offering a Mental Health Challenge in May, inviting employees to take small, intentional steps that support emotional health, self-care and connection. The challenge is approachable and flexible, making it easy to participate alongside daily work and life commitments.
Emory Healthcare employees are invited to explore mental well-being resources available through Revive & Thrive. These tools help users build healthier habits, manage stress and take time to reset. They are designed to fit your schedule, allowing you to participate at your own pace and in ways that work best for you.

How to access Revive & Thrive:
Peer support provides another avenue to work through occupational stress and secondary trauma often experienced in health care settings. EmBRACE Peer Support is a program in which colleagues are matched by professional affiliation (e.g., nurses with nurses, physicians with physicians) for free, confidential conversation. Anyone can request a session via this confidential link, and those interested in the next EmBRACE Peer Supporter training can apply here.
Movement is more than fitness - it's an evidence-based way to support mental health. Even a few minutes of physical activity can help ease stress, improve mood and support better sleep.
As part of the Healthy Emory Physical Activity campaign, employees are encouraged to explore:
Whether walking, cycling, strength training or enjoying other movement, every step supports both mind and body.
May is also Women's Health Month, providing an opportunity to highlight resources that support women's physical and emotional health across life stages.
In addition to health-focused programming, May includes opportunities to connect for support and to celebrate with community:
Throughout May, explore available resources, whether that means attending a session, setting a personal well-being SMART goal, prioritizing movement or rest or simply learning more about available support.
Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that well-being is not one-size-fits-all. Taking a first step, however small, can help build resilience and support mental well-being, no matter what month it is.
