The Coca-Cola Co. recently became public enemy number one of U.S. corn farmers following headlines that the beverage maker would shift some of its production lines to use cane sugar as a sweetener as opposed to high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Since then, the company has clarified that it doesn't intend to completely go away from HFCS but that it would be adding additional product offerings to its existing lines that utilize the alternative sweetener.
