TIF Support Approved for Park Improvement Projects

Chicago Park District improvement projects in West Ridge and Washington Park will receive $4.75 million in Tax Increment Financing (TIF) assistance following approval from City Council today.

Mather Park, 5941 N. Richmond St., will receive $2.75 million from the Lincoln Avenue TIF District to support improvements including new athletic field lighting, restored baseball fields, repaved pathways, new benches, reconstructed basketball and tennis courts and a redeveloped garden area.

Jackie Robinson Park, 10540 S. Morgan St., will receive $2 million from the 105th/Vincennes TIF district to support construction of an 18,000-square-foot fieldhouse with a gym, clubrooms, fitness center, teen room and restrooms. The fieldhouse will be built on property acquired from CPS, creating a campus with the adjacent Mount Vernon Elementary School.

TIF funding will support the entirety of each project's construction costs.
