Water infrastructure grants awarded for stormwater management

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) awarded two water infrastructure grants totaling $1,396,857 to the cities of Dudley and Tennille for sewer system rehabilitation. Funding for the Sewer Overflow and Stormwater Reuse Municipal Grant (OSG) came from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Dudley is receiving $796,857 for sewer system improvements that include sewer rehabilitation for manholes and sewer lines that have been identified as sources of inflow and infiltration. Manholes that have experienced root intrusion or structural degradation will be lined or replaced.

Tennille is receiving $600,000 for sewer system improvements that will include new sanitary sewer main, services, cleanouts, and manhole repair or replacement.

The OSG program, created when the America's Water Infrastructure Act of 2018 was signed into law and amended section 221 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, is intended to address infrastructure needs for combined sewer overflows, sanitary sewer overflows, and stormwater management.
