Illinois Power Agency Releases Draft 2027 Annual Electricity Procurement Plan for Public Review and Comment

On August 17, 2026, the Illinois Power Agency (IPA) released the draft 2027 Electricity Procurement Plan, which sets forth the IPA's block energy and capacity procurement approach to meet the supply requirements of residential and small commercial customers taking electricity supply service from Ameren Illinois, Commonwealth Edison, and MidAmerican Energy Company. This Plan also includes the addition of a new chapter addressing the Long-Term Clean Energy Procurement mechanism stemming from the Clean and Reliable Grid Affordability Act.

The IPA welcomes public comments on the draft Electricity Procurement Plan. Written comments are due on Wednesday, September 16. The Agency will also hold three virtual public hearings (one for each utility service territory) for the draft Electricity Procurement Plan on Monday, September 14.
